Speakers include: Vicky Featherstone, Chair Professor Hugh Cunningham, author of The Invention of Childhood Naeemah Islam, former student, The Mulberry School Dr Vanessa Ogden, Headteacher, The Mulberry School Melisha Trotman, Headteacher, Crowland Primary School Vicky Featherstone, Chair Artistic Director of the Royal Court Theatre, has directed God Bless the Child by Molly Davies. Professor Hugh Cunningham - Emeritus Professor of Social History, University of Kent. Professor Cunningham is the author of books including the following: The Children of the Poor: Representations of Childhood since the Seventeenth Century (Blackwell, 1991), Children and Childhood in Western Society since 1500 (Longman, 1995, revised edition, 2005), The Invention of Childhood (BBC Books, 2006) and Grace Darling: Victorian Heroine (HambledonContinuum, 2007). Vanessa Ogden - Vanessa Ogden is Headteacher of Mulberry School for Girls, a high achieving and over-subscribed comprehensive school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Ogden campaigns for the highest quality education in inner city schools, encouraging businesses to support schools for children who live in poverty. She is a trustee of Teach First and has been awarded the status of a National Leader in Education by the National College of School Leadership. She is a visiting fellow at the Institute of Education and has published academic and professional writing about education. Melisha Trotman - Melisha Trotman is the Headteacher of Crowland Primary School in Tottenham. She was born and raised in Bolton, then moved to London at the age of 16, working as a nanny before undertaking a career in teaching. She became the Headteacher of Crowland Primary School in 2012, when the school was placed in special measures. Under her leadership, the school was taken out of special measures in just ten months. In July 2014, OFSTED graded the school as outstanding in every category. Melisha is an inspirational leader who constantly seeks ways to keep both children and teachers inspired, to ensure that children are fully prepared for the next stage in their lives.
