The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos Writing Fellowships

In 2019, the Royal Court Theatre and Kudos television production company collaborated to offer new writing fellowships to support three emerging writers for both theatre and television. The fellowships were aimed at writers already establishing a writing career, but who perceive barriers in getting their work developed and produced in theatre and television because of class, disability, education, ethnicity, gender identity, geography or any other barrier.

Three writers were each offered a £10,000 bursary, funded by Kudos, to enable them to focus purely on their writing for six months. During this time, they were supported by The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos through writing workshops, 1-on-1 conversations with screen and stage writers and feedback on their writing drafts from the Royal Court and Kudos teams as well as bespoke opportunities each writer identified for their own development.

The 2019 fellowships were awarded to Rabiah Hussain, Lettie Precious and Ross Willis.
