Vicky Featherstone: “Saudi prince will visit Royal Court to cast new film”

Site Reporter, London, 30 May 2017

Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone has today announced that her team will be welcoming a large party of royal visitors from the Middle East to the theatre in coming weeks.

“It’s all a bit hush-hush really,” she told our reporter. “We can’t disclose exactly who’s coming, or when they’ll arrive.”

The Site News can exclusively reveal however, that the purpose of the trip is to cast a new film project being made in the region, both produced and financed by a large company of playboy royals, some of the wealthiest bachelors in the world.

Featherstone said: “Yes, well. I think the most exciting thing to focus on is the fact that the global film industry is looking to the Royal Court for inspiration. It is testament to the calibre of performers we work with, plus the opportunities we provide to help them grow and develop night after night in front of what I believe to be London’s finest audiences.”

Details on the subject of the film, or the roles that are being cast in London, are still unknown, but a spokesperson for the royal party has indicated that the film project may involve either classical poetry or theme parks, two of the unnamed prince’s main interests.

While theatre is more likely to provide an emotional rollercoaster than the real thing, the party might wish to visit Gary Owen’s new emo-thriller Killology, or kick back and enjoy the latest collaboration between Alice Birch and Katie Mitchell, Anatomy Of A Suicide. On the other hand, he’s just as likely to find the stars of tomorrow in The Site a new space for experimentation at the historic theatre, created by designer Chloe Lamford.

Chloe spoke to us during a break in rehearsals: “I’m confident he’ll find plenty to inspire him in these new works, but we’re kind of too busy to think much about it right now. To be honest, my main concern is how we’re going to fit his entourage into the space. We only have 50 seats and I’m not kicking anyone out for him.”
