David Ireland's Cyprus Avenue wins James Tait Black Prize for Drama

Cyprus Avenue by David Ireland has won the 2017 James Tait Black Prize for Drama.

Directed by Royal Court Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone, Cyprus Avenue was co-production between the Royal Court and the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.  It was performed in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court 05 April- 07 May of 2016 after a successful run at the Abbey.

Cyprus Avenue was supported by Cockayne Grants for the Arts and Culture Ireland as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.

Given by the University of Edinburgh in association with Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland and the Traverse Theatre, the James Tate Black Prize is an annual award for the best new play in English, Scots or Gaelic.

The award was announced at a ceremony at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh.
