The founding promise of the Royal Court Theatre since 1956 is simple: anyone in the world writing in English can send us their play, we will read it, and if it's good enough it can make its way to our stages. The plays have been coming ever since, and in 2026 that promise is more vital to the playwriting ecology than ever before.
