Jerwood Charitable Foundation supports Gundog through the Jerwood New Playwrights Programme

Published on Thu 2 Nov 2017

Jerwood New Playwrights is to support Simon Longman’s Royal Court debut Gundog, directed by Vicky Featherstone. Gundog will run in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs Wednesday 31 January to Saturday 10 March 2018.

Funded by Jerwood Charitable Foundation, the Jerwood New Playwrights programme helps the Royal Court discover and support the next generation of world class playwrights. The programme has supported 68 writers and 83 plays over the past 23 years.

Each year, Jerwood New Playwrights supports the production of two new works by emerging writers, all of whom are in the first 10 years of their career. The Royal Court carefully identifies playwrights whose careers would benefit from the challenge and profile of being fully produced either in the Jerwood Downstairs or Jerwood Upstairs Theatres at the Royal Court.

In 2017, Jerwood New Playwrights has supported Alice Birch’s Anatomy of a Suicide and Chris Thorpe’s Victory Condition at the Royal Court. Gundog marks the first of two Jerwood New Playwright productions in 2018.
