The Royal Court will be working with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on NEW: 2017.

NEW: 2017 is the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama’s new writing festival. It will produce four plays by exciting new writers, premiering in Cardiff before transferring to the Gate in London.

Alistair McDowall’s hugely successful Pomona was part of the festival in 2014.

This is the 4th year the Royal Court has worked with the Royal Welsh Collegewe work in collaboration with them to select exciting and provocative playwrights and pair them with directors who are just as interesting to us.  The teams are supported and mentored by the Royal Court Literary Department in the development of the plays. The plays are created in full production to showcase for the graduating actors at the Gate theatre and in Cardiff.

The plays that we are working in collaboration on are Eve Leigh’s Spooky Action at a Distance, directed by Elayce Ismail and Simon Longman’s White Sky, directed by Ola Ince. They run from 4-8 April at the Gate.
