Living Newspaper: Edition 2 at the Court
Unfortunately, as it has been announced that London will be placed in Tier 3 from Wednesday 16 December, we are unable to go ahead with in person performances of Edition 2 at the Royal Court.
We were very much looking forward to welcoming you to the building and are sorry this cannot go ahead. We will however still be able to film the production to bring the Royal Court, and the experience of the Living Newspaper to audiences at home.
Living Newspaper is a physically active piece of promenade theatre across six floors of the Royal Court building, and it will include prolonged periods of standing, going up and down stairs, and moving around the building. Audiences of 15 people will be socially distanced throughout. Step free access and a lift are available. Please read our dedicated FAQ page for more information about in-person performances of Living Newspaper at the Royal Court.
We recognise that coming to the Royal Court to see Living Newspaper may well be your first theatre visit since March, and we want to make the experience as comfortable as possible. We are taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of audiences, performers and staff – please read our COVID-19 Safety Information for more details.
Each weekly edition of the newspaper will be created by both a collective of writers responsible for the front page and overall tone of the edition and contributing writers offering individual pieces.
Edition 2 is written by Ryan Calais Cameron, Si’an Chen, Yuqun Fan, Tom Fowler, Nick Gill, Ruby Holder, Emteaz Hussain, Jammz, Yasmin Joseph, Anchuli Felicia King, Tife Kusoro, Mark Ravenhill, Ruby Thomas and Tom Wells. Si’an Chen’s contribution will be translated by Jeremy Tiang.
It will be urgent, responsive and fast – with writers filing their pieces by Tuesday and actors performing from Thursday, script-in-hand, hot off the press. Each edition will include performances relating to the moment we are in with local and global perspectives, longer form pieces, dating columns, a cartoon of the week, the world in pictures, a weather room, agony aunts, horoscopes and much more.
