The show

At Schaubühne in Berlin this April 2026, two Royal Court productions directed by Katie Mitchell - Cow | Deer and Bluets - will feature in FIND, Europe’s leading international festival of contemporary theatre, where she is the 2026 Artist in Focus.

Bluets is a story about depression and desire, pleasure and pain, and a person possessed by a lifelong obsession with the colour blue. Communing with artists like Joni Mitchell, Derek Jarman, Andy Warhol and Billie Holiday, blue is their constant companion as they navigates the devastating pain of a life-altering heartbreak.

Based on acclaimed author Maggie Nelson’s unique andelectrifying book, Bluets is an adaptation by playwright Margaret Perry, directed by Katie Mitchell. Translated by Jan Wilm.
