Video Masterclasses
Thinking about applying for our Young Playwrights Award, but want some help starting, writing and finishing your play?
We think everyone can enjoy and learn from the experience, whether you end up entering the competition or not.
Below you’ll find a series of video masterclasses by award-winning playwrights sharing writing exercises, tips and advice – taking you through the different stages of writing a play with 'pause the video' moments to guide your work.
All videos can be watched independently or in a group, and are available in BSL versions, covering topics such as finding a spark, characters, structure, scenes and dialogue, breaking the rules, and redrafting. For classes or groups using them, we've also made a set of classroom slides and resources, available below.
Watch, listen and write along to the pre-recorded tutorials, with friends, in the classroom or in your own time. Available on our Instagram, YouTube and below.
