Members’ Newsletter
On sign-up, Writers’ Card Members join a dedicated mailing list, a direct line of communication with our playwriting community. The newsletter is the first place we’ll share announcements and advertise opportunities – including special events, secret booking links, discounts, application call-outs and funding.
Food and Drink
Members can access an exclusive Writers’ Card Menu at our bar, starting with £1 barista coffees, teas and soft drinks, as well as discounts across a range of snacks and drink. Just show your membership card or email at the bar to access the discounts.
Every month, as part of the Writers’ Card Events, Members can get free coffee when attending Career Surgeries, free drinks and nibbles at Writers’ Nights, a subsidised £5 lunch at our Writers’ Canteens and year-round free events.

We also offer a range of partner discounts, with information on how to redeem in your welcome email, with further one-off discounts and benefits included in the regular Newsletter. Current offers include:

Funding
A free membership gives you exclusive access to our free-to-apply Writers’ Card Lottery Funding, providing paid writing weeks for 20 members every year.
Exclusive events & opportunities
The Writers’ Card events programme is full of ways to engage with us – and with fellow-playwrights.
Regular events include Career Surgeries, Writers’ Canteens, Writers’ Nights, Parent & Carer Meet-Ups, discussions and debates, workshops, in-person gatherings and zoom happenings.
Building & Resources
Members have year-round, every-day access to use the resources of our building. This includes
- access to writing and meeting spaces
- a discount cuppa (or something stronger)
- access to our reference library of plays and theatre books
- use of a printer (for free)
- use of our phone locking facilities to help tackle distractions and procrastination.
