CATHERINE TATE and FRANCESCA ANNIS lead a stellar cast in Under The Blue Sky, David Eldridges award-winning, funny and touching play - three subtly connected love stories that reveal in turn the roller-coaster ride of lust in its prime, the sacrifices of a life in public service and its unrequited passions.
In the long shadow of the twentieth century, Eldridges play is a delicate yet truthful depiction of all the degrees of love - from fondness and affection through the headier extremes of a drunken romp. It gives us an all too recognisable portrayal of the way in which uncertainties, misunderstanding and the unsaid lead to unexpected results for three couples who seem destined never to say the right thing.
Under The Blue Sky premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2000.
The cast includes FRANCESCA ANNIS (starring roles in numerous theatre and television productions including Lady Ludlow in Cranford (BBC) and Epitaph for George Dillon), LISA DILLON (Present Laughter (National Theatre) and Mary Smith in Cranford), NIGEL LINDSAY (Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly), The Homecoming (Almeida) and Rome (BBC)), CHRIS O'DOWD(Roy in Channel 4s hit comedy series The IT Crowd ), DOMINIC ROWAN (A Voyage Around My Father (Donmar) and Happy Now? (National Theatre)) and CATHERINE TATE (Donna Noble in Doctor Who, The Catherine Tate Show and Some Girls (Gielgud)).
