In 1970 the Royal Court Theatre threw its doors open to the bubbling,
newly-nascent Fringe and welcomed them all into a repainted canary-yellow
auditorium. We revisit the spirit of that festival with a unique late-night
'happening' including an extract from anti-war America Hurrah by Jean Claude van Itallie, directed by Simon Usher; cabaret from The People Show; Roddy Maude-Roxby's legendary masks; a DJ in the bar, and watch out for Burka or Bondage? (an exploration of sex across the east/west culture gap).
Three hours of performances and music in an evening of patchouli, gratuitous
nudity and wild, wild writing. All for the bargain entry price of £7.50.
