The Changing Room

A YOUTHFUL PERSPECTIVE Our 50th Anniversary celebrations focus as much on moving forward into the future as looking back at the past. Many of today's leading actors began their career on the Royal Court stage. With this in mind we have invited two Drama Schools and the National Youth Theatre to present their own interpretations of four Royal Court classics in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs. Direction: Colin Cook Lindsay Anderson first directed THE CHANGING ROOM for the Royal Court in 1971. Set in the changing room of a rugby league team on match day, THE CHANGING ROOM explores the issues that beset everyday life, questioning concepts such as class and position in a post-industrial community. "One of the best plays of the year" Daily Telegraph 1971 LAMDA is famous for two things: for being one of the leading drama schools in the English-speaking world, and for conducting the most eminent set of public examinations in speech and drama reaching as far as Africa and the Far East. The institutions that combined to form The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) date from 1861, making the Academy the oldest of its kind in Great Britain, with a long-established and international reputation for excellence.
