Rough Cuts 2011 - Cast and Creative Team Update

Sam Taylor Wood, who was due to direct Brad Birch's play Permafrost, as part of the Royal Court Theatre's Rough Cuts season has now had to withdraw from the Rough Cuts projects due to commitments elsewhere. James Macdonald will now be directing the piece.

2011 ROUGH CUTS SEASON

Sam Taylor Wood, who was due to direct Brad Birch’s play Permafrost, as part of the Royal Court Theatre’s Rough Cuts season has now had to withdraw from the Rough Cuts projects due to commitments elsewhere. James Macdonald will now be directing the piece.

Rough Cuts is a regular mini season of short plays, experimental readings and works in progress at the Royal Court. Further cast has now been announced. The cast for DC Jackson’s piece, Hard Gravity, directed by Jo McInnes includes Rosalind Sydney, Siobhan Redmond, Paul Higgins and Brian Ferguson.

The Unheard Voices: Romany Stories Project cast now includes Sean Chapman, Beatie Edney, Candis Nergaard, Ian Redford, Suzan Sylvester and Luke Treadway

The cast for Manwe Sauls-Addison’s dance project includes Ukweli Roach, Craig Stein
Roger Davies, Sam Mackay, Dominique Tipper, Cindy Belliot and Nandi Bhebhe

The programme includes Court Short on 19-22 January – four nights of short plays by three young playwrights. Alia Bano’s Buried, directed by Joe Hill Gibbons, Brad Birch’s Permafrost, directed by James Macdonald and DC Jackson’s Hard Gravity, directed by Jo McInnes.

On 21 January, there will be a presentation of Unheard Voices: Romany Stories, where playwrights Dan Allum and Nell Leyshon interviewed men and women from the Romany Traveller community and developed a short verbatim play in response

A new dance project from the US choreographer Manwe Sauls-Addison exploring the world of celebrity backing dancers concludes the season 26- 28 January.

US choreographer Manwe Sauls-Addison develops a new dance piece exploring the world of celebrity backing dancers. MTV Music Video Award nominated Manwe was choreographer on Wig Out! at the Royal Court and has danced and provided choreography for Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson.
Directed by Gbolahan Obisesan.
