PRESS RELEASE

Posh in our society: Join the debate on Thursday 14 June, 6pm at The Duke of York’s Theatre

Prior to the performance of Posh, Laura Wade’s searing take on Britain’s classes, old money and the ultra-privileged, there will be a special discussion chaired by Alastair Campbell, writer and director of communications for Tony Blair’s Government. He will be joined by Luciana Berger, Labour MP; Dr James Tilley, lecturer at Oxford in politics and international relations; and Rachel Johnson, Editor in Chief of The Lady.

Is a privileged background a barrier to success in today’s Britain, or is it a necessity? Do posh people think they are entitled to lead? Can we really trust the ruling classes to rule anymore?

The Royal Court’s hit production of Posh has grabbed headlines both in the arts and political columns:

‘A fundamental truth about British life’ The Guardian, 23 May 2012

‘I would urge all who care about our country, how it is being governed and by whom to make haste and go see it.’ Daily Mail, 28 May 2012

‘A good old-fashioned piece of theatrical class-warfare.’ Daily Telegraph, 24 May 2012

Join the debate on Thursday 14 June at 6pm at the Duke of York’s Theatre before the evening performance of Posh. The discussion is free but general admission tickets need to be reserved in advance.
