Director, playwright, interdisciplinary artist, arts manager and curator Mariana Gándara was born in Mexico City in 1984. She has dedicated her practice to the belief in togetherness, producing, managing and curating cultural and academic projects that remind us how powerful it is to stop being a group of strangers and become a ‘we’. In 2008, she founded Colectivo Macramé, an independent performing arts collective based in Mexico and Switzerland. Her texts have been translated into English and Portuguese, performed and published in Mexico and Brazil. She has been a fellow of the Foundation for Mexican Literature (FLM) and the Young Creators Programme of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA). She is currently part of the National System of Creators (SNCA) with her project Everything That Lives Has An Expiration Date. As an arts manager, she promoted international collaborations with creators, critics and researchers from over 20 countries around the world as Executive Coordinator of the Ingmar Bergman Chair on Film and Theatre and Head of Live Arts at the Chopo University Museum, both part of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
