The Writers' Card - it starts here

The Writers’ Card is an offer, an invitation, and a promise for theatre writers at every stage of their careers.

It’s an offer: to share the resources of the Royal Court with playwrights who want a professional home. It’s an invitation: to join us, with exclusive access and benefits for our artistic community. And it’s a promise: to stand by our commitment to new talent and defending the values of bold, ambitious writing.

All free to join for any writer who wants to be part of our next steps.

Members’ Newsletter

On sign-up, Writers’ Card Members join a dedicated mailing list, a direct line of communication with our playwrighting community.

The newsletter is the first place we’ll share announcements and advertise opportunities – including special events, secret booking links, discounts, application call-outs and funding.

Alongside, Members’ have year-round, every-day access to the resources of our building. Whether you need writing or meeting space, a discount cuppa (or something stronger), access to our reference library of plays and theatre books, to use a printer (for free) or help tackling distractions and procrastination, we’re ready to welcome you in.

How to join

Joining couldn’t be easier – and did we mention it’s completely free?

Anyone can join, regardless of where they’re based, career stage or background, so long as they share our commitment and ambition for playwrighting. We also welcome from international writers, especially if seeking a theatrical home-from-home in the UK.

Finally, we’d ask everyone joining to read our Code of Conduct, the shared commitment we offer for everyone working at or with the Royal Court.
