At a time of polarisation, how can artists and institutions work together to defend the creative right – and responsibility – to divergence and dissent?
Join the Genesis Foundation, Royal Court and a panel of playwrights and arts leaders, to discuss this critical question and consider the wider challenges around free expression and theatre’s role in the current moment.
Chaired by Royal Court Artistic Director David Byrne, panellists include reputational and crisis PR guru Mark Borkowski, Theatre Green Book Director and former Director of Jerwood Arts Lilli Geissendorfer, Paines Plough Artistic Director Katie Posner, Barbican Director of Arts Devyani Saltzman and Royal Court Associate Playwright Nina Segal.
This event is presented by the Royal Court as part of the Genesis Conversations series, aiming to offer an open, constructive discussion addressing issues around political polarisation, censorship and protest both on and off stage. Knowing there are no simple answers, inviting panel and audience to bring open minds to encourage meaningful exchange.
Followed by a free drinks reception in the Royal Court Bar & Kitchen.
The event will also be filmed for future digital release.
