Court’s in Session: new writing from within the Royal Court

The Royal Court Theatre is famously known as ‘the writers’ theatre’.

But this is not just true for the work put on its two stages, there is also a rich artistic community working Front of House.

‘Court’s in Session’ is a scratch night intended to highlight the diverse artistic talent among the Royal Court Theatre’s frontline workers.

This bi-annual event features a lineup of seven short pieces, written, directed and performed by artists working within the Royal Court’s front of house departments. It aims to recognise their artistic credo, provide them with a platform to share and celebrate their work, and facilitate an opportunity for inter-departmental artistic exchange.

Curated and produced by Phoebe Coop – founder of ‘Court’s in Session’ – Elspeth McColl and Anja Hasselbeck, the event provides a supportive performance environment in the intimate setting of the Royal Court Bar.
