Lizzie Jackson is a 21 year old aspiring playwright and director from South London. She has written two plays: ‘HATCH’, a short piece that depicts an encounter between two women who meet outside a ‘baby hatch’, where they plan on abandoning their babies in Johannesburg, South Africa; and ‘The Tower’, a full length play about the Grenfell Tower tragedy, which includes a mixture of verbatim and her own writing. Her play ‘HATCH’ will be staged for the third time in Barons court as part of their ‘New Writing Festival’ in September. Lizzie has a hearing impairment, which means she has to wear hearing aids to function in her everyday life. She has recently become interested in how her deafness effects her and other deaf people, and is currently in the early stages of writing a play surrounding this theme. |
