We set this auction up in good faith but, since some prizes have been misconstrued, we take responsibility for the misunderstanding. We would never want to be associated with enabling exclusive career progression opportunities so we’ve removed these ones from the auction.

The Royal Court has equality of access at its core, and has done a huge amount in recent years to broaden career pathways – on stage and off. There is a fundamental and difficult tension within the philanthropic model – the subsidised arts will always depend on wealthy individuals to redistribute their wealth, and we try to find equitable ways to thank them for doing so. The Royal Court’s donors are all deeply committed to an organisation that has social mobility, creative access and diverse voices at the heart of its mission. All money raised on November 2nd enables us to do more of that work.”
