a smith is a UK born theatre maker based in Oslo whose work has been performed extensively in
Norway and Europe. He specialises in creating simple solo performances that entertain and engage
their audience, and explore big subjects using modest means.They include The Ibsen Hut (2006),
commissioned by Nationaltheatret, Oslo, for the Ibsen Centenary, innvandrer (2007) a work about
migration that continues to tour venues and schools in Norway, and most recently the next two days
of everything (2009), a monologue that concerns itself with our relationship to travel, oil and the
changing environment. In late 2009 he begins development of a new piece with the working title From
Europe.
He has been an associate of Tim Crouch since 2005, co-directing his earlier plays An Oak Tree and
England.
