Carlos is a composer, researcher and player of Andean traditional instruments. He was a member of the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN) from 2003 and its director from 2019 to 2021. His work has been extended to the creation of instruments, sound objects, sound installations and research of Bolivian indigenous music.   

Carlos has also composed original music for films, documentaries and plays. His works have been performed by the OEIN, EMN (La Paz), Wapiti duo (Bogotá-Montreal), Via Nova Chor (Munich), Curious Chamber Players (Stockholm), Ensemble Face the Music (New York), vocal soloists Phoenix 16 (Berlin) and the Basel Sinfonietta (Basel). In 2018, Carlos was made resident fellow of the DAAD Artists in Berlin Program (Berliner Künstlerprogramm).
