Maria Koripas
As movement director/choreographer, theatre includes: Fafa Saves the Forest (Al Jazeera, Qatar); The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (TUZ, Russia); Picasso (Playground).
As director/choreographer, opera includes: Silk Moth [as co-director] (20th Century Theatre/Nour Arts Festival); Woman at Point Zero [devised with Bushra El-Turk, Sabrina Mahfouz & Merit Stefanos] (Royal Opera House/Shubbak Festival/Snape Maltings).
Maria has worked as a movement director and choreographer with Opera Circus, Palace Opera, European Chamber Opera, English Touring Opera, Floral Opera, Abbey Opera and Birkbeck Opera. With creative photographer Kathryn Chapman, she co-produced site-responsive work Gestures to Lost Spaces and Secret Life and supported the movement process for Kathryn’s Parachute.
Maria is the former founder/director of Dance at Birkbeck and has led movement workshops at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, British Youth Opera, Morley Opera and The National Opera Studio amongst others.
