Sanjeev Bhaskar

Sanjeev Bhaskar is an actor, writer and presenter. He first came to prominence in the ground breaking television comedy sketch show Goodness Gracious Me which he co-created and the award winning comedy The Kumars at Number 42, (Both BBC) which he created, wrote and acted in and which won several awards including 2 International Emmys, a Peabody and a British Comedy Award and for which he was BAFTA nominated.

He was the title character in three series of The Indian Doctor (BBC) and six series of the on going crime drama Unforgotten (ITV) the fifth series of which was one of the Top 10 most watched shows of 2023 on UK terrestrial television. He can currently be seen in The Sandman (Netflix).

Feature film credits include Notting Hill, Paddington 2 and Yesterday.

His book, India with Sanjeev Bhaskar, based on his BBC documentary series of the same name was a Sunday Times bestseller.

On stage he has appeared in the West End in Art, as King Arthur in the Monty Python based musical Spamalot (The Palace Theatre) and Dinner With Sadaam (Menier Chocolate Factory).

He was awarded an OBE in 2003 and reached number 1 in the U.K. pop charts with ‘Spirit in the Sky with Gareth Gates and The Kumars’.
