Meet Our Open Court Eighty and Over Playwrights

On Wednesday 22nd May the Eighty and Over Playwriting Group had their first workshop with DC Moore and Penelope Skinner.

Here’s a quick introduction to a handful of our newest group of Royal Court writers.

Name: Irene
Why did you sign up to the programme? I was attracted to the idea of joining other playwrights. I already write alone so I it will be interesting to write in a group. To meet other playwrights over 80 is a big privilege.

Name: Ann
Why did you sign up to the programme? I already translate a lot of plays and I wanted to write in English – with more parts for older women!

Name: Maurice
Why did you sign up to the programme? Because I love writing. That’s it.

Name: Lindy
Why did you sign up to the programme? Because every little helps!

Name: Dick
Why did you sign up to the programme? Well I’ve just written a play and I had it done as a rehearsed reading and it was such a great experience. My daughter found this for me and I got in just in time.

Name: Patrick
Why did you sign up to the programme? I read about it in the paper so I applied. Now I’m on Cloud 9!

Name: Binnie
Why did you sign up to the programme? Because I’ve been writing for 70 years and I’m passionate about theatre so it’s good to have the chance to polish it up and become a professional. This is the beginning of the rest of my life!

The plays written by our Eighty and Over playwrights will be performed as part of Open Court: The Big Idea at 7pm on 21 June 2013.
