Community cast call out for WHO CARES

Published on Wed 4 Mar 2015

WHO CARES, TOTTENHAM?

An opportunity for non-professional volunteers.

  • Would you like to take part in a professional or community theatre show at the Royal Court Theatre?
  • Would you like to see a new verbatim play about the NHS being made and be part of the story?

The Royal Court is offering an opportunity for community participation for 12 people from Tottenham to take part in a professional stage production at the Royal Court Theatre, SW1, from March 7th until May 16th.

GET INVOLVED, LEARN AND TRAIN, AND BRING YOUR STORIES

The Royal Court Theatre is creating a play about the NHS. We are looking for 12 people to make up a community company to rehearse and perform as the staff and patients in the show.

As part of this company, you would be supporting the main cast as a vital part of the production, and have the opportunity to be creative, gain performance skills, build confidence, work with some brilliant theatre makers and learn about being in a professional production of a brand new play.

We are looking for the young, old and everything in between. You can have absolutely no drama experience – we will teach you basic techniques and skills. However, you must be able to commit to the majority of dates we need you. Most importantly, you must be enthusiastic and excited about this vital, topical and creative project. If you have availability issues, please do still consider applying and provide us with details – we may be able to work around your commitments.

Performances At Royal Court Theatre:

Sat Apr 11th to Sat May 16th, Royal Court Theatre

You will receive £15 expenses each day you come to the Royal Court Theatre for an agreed performance, to cover travel and one meal. If you are performing in two shows (an afternoon and evening show) in one day, you will only receive £15 expenses for travel and food.

You will be expected to perform in 4 shows a week. These will be divided (depending on your availability) into 3 evening shows and 1 afternoon show (either Wednesday or Saturday).

We have tried to structure this so every time you travel for an arranged session in this project, whether it is rehearsals or performance, you will receive £15 expenses for travel and one meal. This is meant to cover any costs for the performer to participate in this project.

Please remember that this is an expenses only project: you will receive no salary or fee of any kind. What we can offer you is an opportunity to be a part of a unique piece of theatre across the General Election.
