The Lima / Santiago Project

The Royal Court has worked in partnership with the Santiago a Mil Festival on workshop projects for writers across Latin America for the last decade. This latest workshop group brings together emerging writers from Chile and their Peruvian peers for a unique exchange, produced in partnership with the Teatro La Plaza in Lima.

After an initial workshop in Lima, led by Elyse Dodgson and the playwrights Leo Butler and Nick Payne, each writer in the group has begun work on a brand new play that has been drafted and translated into English.

2019 will see the group reunite for a second workshop in Lima, working with Royal Court Associate Director Lucy Morrison, Nicky Payne and the writer Simon Longman to explore and develop these new drafts.

This project culminates in a third workshop that will take place in Santiago during the Festival in January 2020, where work from the group will be shared with a public audience for the first time.
