The finalists for the Linbury Prize 2015 have been selected. Finalist Camilla Clarke (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) will design Human Animals, by Stef Smith at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs (18 May-18 Jun).

A total of twelve designers were given the opportunity to design for the Royal Court, Nuffield Theatre Southampton, Traverse Theatre Edinburgh and the Lyric Belfast.

The designers who have also won a commission are:
Jen McGinley (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama), who will design Autumn at the Traverse, Edinburgh
Philippa Brocklehurst (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) who will design A Passage to India at the Nuffield, Southampton.
Grace Smart (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts), whose winning design for Saint Joan will be produced at the Lyric, Belfast.

The Linbury Prize brings together the best of emerging designers with professional theatre, dance and opera companies. The four winners of each competition receive a cash prize together with a professional commission to design a production for a major company. The Linbury Prize for Stage Design is funded entirely by the Linbury Trust, a charitable trust founded in 1973 by Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover KG (John Sainsbury), and his wife Anya, Lady Sainsbury.

The Linbury prize is a crucial milestone in a designer’s career. Past winners include Tim Hatley (Great Britain, Shrek the Musical), Anthony Ward (King Lear, Gypsy), Es Devlin (Hamlet, Linda) and Vicki Mortimer (Othello, The Silver Tassie).
