Lucy Kirkwood's Maryland Shortlisted in the 2022 Visionary Honours

Maryland by Lucy Kirkwood has been selected to be shortlisted for the 2022 Visionary Honours Play/Musical of the Year.

The Visionary Honours celebrate social impact through media and entertainment, as well as celebrities, influencers and community workers that have made a positive cultural impact.

From diversity and inclusion, to mental health, youth violence and the climate crisis, the Visionary Honours highlights that people can make a difference in the world through music, film, literature, theatre and digital media, thereby creating positive change through the arts.

On being shortlisted for the award, Lucy Kirkwood said;

“I’m so delighted for Maryland to be recognised in this way, it’s a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work of so many people and a tribute to the Royal Court’s creative commitment to the play.”

The awards will be hosted by Sir Lenny Henry and will be held at BAFTA 195, Piccadilly in London’s West End on 1st March 2022.

Maryland by Lucy Kirkwood was originally performed in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs Thursday 7 October 2021 – Saturday 23 October 2021. The script-in-hand performances were co-directed by Royal Court Associate Directors Milli Bhatia and Lucy Morrison and Royal Court Theatre Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone.
