Open Court Launch Event

Open Court was officially launched last night with a special event in the newly decked out Royal Court Bar & Kitchen.

Guests watched a production of Lasha Bugadze’s The President Has Come to See You, the first in the series of weekly rep plays. The plays are performed by one ensemble company, rehearsing each play for just five days before presenting a week long run in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs.

At the afterparty, new Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone saluted the bravery of all the writers, actors, creatives and staff who have made Open Court possible. She made a special mention for the Over 80s playwriting group whose new short plays will be performed on 21 June, and which Vicky announced she will direct.

Quintessentially Vodka And Fever Tree served up classy Moscow Mules and Vodka Tonics poured over huge ice cubes, freshly cut at the table.
