Ophelias Zimmer nominated for a Fridrich-Luft-Preis in Berlin

Katie Mitchell’s, Chloe Lamford’s and Alice Birch’s Ophelias Zimmer received a Friedrich Luft Preis 2015 nomination.

The play explores Ophelia, freed from Hamlet.

Directed by Katie Mitchell, designed by Royal Court Artistic Associate Chloe Lamford with text by Alice Birch.

The production is a major collaboration between the Royal Court and the Schaubühne Berlin. It opened in Berlin 8 Dec 2015 and will come to the Royal Court 17 May.

The winners will be announced in March.

The Friedrich Luft Preis is awarded by the daily newspaper Berliner Morgenpost since 1992. The prize of 7,500 euros, recognizes annually the “best Berlin theatre performance”, which is determined by a seven-member jury. The Berliner Morgenpost recalls with this award its long-time theatre critic Friedrich Luft.
