The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos Writing Fellowships

Applications for The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos Writing Fellowships are currently closed and will reopen soon.

The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos television production company are collaborating for the second year to offer new writing fellowships to support three emerging writers for both theatre and television.

Three writers will each be offered a £10,000 bursary, funded by Kudos, to enable them to focus purely on their writing for six months. During this time, they will have the opportunity to be supported by The Royal Court Theatre and Kudos.

The fellowships are specifically aimed at writers already establishing a writing career, but who perceive barriers in getting their work developed and produced in theatre and television because of class, disability, education, ethnicity, gender identity, geography or any other barrier.

As part of the fellowship, each awarded writer will have the chance to become firmly embedded in the organisations, spend time with all departments, shadowing colleagues observing rehearsals, attending first previews and visiting TV sets.

There will be opportunities to take part in monthly workshops run by leading creatives in theatre and television; attend script meetings at the Royal Court and development meetings at Kudos to be part of the conversations about potential productions; and have space and time to develop their own projects.

The 2019 fellowships were awarded to Rabiah Hussain, Lettie Precious and Ross Willis.
