ROYAL COURT THEATRE NOMINATED FOR NINE 2012 WHATSONSTAGE.COM AWARDS

The Royal Court received nine 2012 Whatsonstage.com Awards nominations this afternoon, 2 December 2011, at a launch event at Café de Paris.

Jumpy by April de Angelis receives three nominations, including Best New Comedy, Best Actress for Tamsin Greig and Best Supporting Actress for Doon Mackichan.

This summer’s production of Chicken Soup with Barley by Arnold Wesker and directed by Artistic Director Dominic Cooke is nominated for Best Play Revival and Samantha Spiro also receives a nomination for Best Actress.

Anthony Neilson’s Get Santa and Penelope Skinner’s The Village Bike are also both nominated for Best New Comedy and the already award-winning The Heretic by Richard Bean is nominated for Best New Play with Johnny Flynn receiving a nomination for London Newcomer of the Year for his performance in the production.

The nominations, which include plays which opened between 1 December 2010 and 30 November 2011, were voted for by more than 10,000 theatregoers with the final award winners also voted for by the public.
