A YOUTHFUL PERSPECTIVE Our 50th Anniversary celebrations focus as much on moving forward into the future as looking back at the past. Many of today's leading actors began their career on the Royal Court stage. With this in mind we have invited two Drama Schools and the National Youth Theatre to present their own interpretations of four Royal Court classics in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs. The Sawneys, nomadic descendants of the 16th century 'sturdy beggars' are rehoused from a caravan site into a council house next-door to the Jacksons, an apparently solid, respectable family. The consequences are explosive. rv. It looks as though the English Stage Company has discovered another new dramatist. rn. Sunday Times 1958 The Guildhall School of Music first opened its doors on 27 September 1880, and was the first municipal music college in Great Britain. '& Drama' was added to the School title in 1935 when departments of Speech, Voice and Acting were added. It moved to its present premises in the heart of the City of London Barbican in 1977 and continues to be owned, funded and administered by the Corporation of London.
