The Weir was highly praised for its rich use of monologue and storytelling and was the Royal Courtâ€™s biggest selling play of the 1990s, transferring to the Theatre Downstairs at the Duke of Yorkâ€™s in February 1998, and then to Broadway. It has since been performed all over the world and, in 1999, won the Olivier Award for Best New Play.
