Young Court Friends Events exist to share industry knowledge and information to widen access for young playwrights and dramaturgs. Each lecture style workshop is led by an expert to provide insight into their field of work. Following the workshop there will be an opportunity to watch a matinee performance for £15.

 

Directing New Work with Sam Pritchard 

Associate Director Sam Pritchard leads a session looking at being a director/dramaturg and how the roles coincide with each other when developing new work. The session will focus on the process of recent new plays programmed at the Royal Court.

 

Making it Happen with Sabrina Mahfouz 

Sabrina Mahfouz will present the process of self-producing your play step by step. Sabrina has produced some of her own work over the last 10 years, including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and internationally.

 

Finding the Team

Following ‘Making It Happen’, join your fellow creatives for a facilitated networking event in our bar. This event will support you to meet writers, directors and producers through creative conversation, to collaborate and develop work with.

Jane Fallowfield and Imogen Sarre, from Casarotto Ramsay & Associates,  in discussion around their roles as Royal Court Literary Manager and Literary Agent at Casarotto, and how they support writers.

 

The First Step with Somalia Seaton

Playwright Somalia Seaton shared an extensive collection of tips and tools for new playwrights to get started. Sharing exercises to kick start ideas and find a way in to writing a play and getting over writers block.
