Best Play at the Writers Guild Awards went to Caryl Churchill’s Escaped Alone, presented at Royal College of Physicians in central London last night.

WGGB President Olivia Hetreed said: “It is very exciting, after a year when truth has often seemed stranger than fiction, to celebrate the insight, humour and humanity in the very best of dramatic storytelling across the whole range from film to TV and radio, theatre to videogames.”

Escaped Alone returns to the Royal Court from Wednesday 25th January and runs until Saturday 11th February before transferring to BAM in New York in February and a UK tour to The Lowry, Salford, Cambridge Arts Theatre and Bristol Old Vic in March.
