Residencies in the UK form a key part of the Royal Court’s work with international writers. These have taken different forms, including single-country residencies or individual attachments. Our flagship summer residency for international artists began in 1989. That residency has introduced the Royal Court to writers from every continent and many writers who have taken part have gone on to become major international voices. Past participants include Lola Arias, Guillermo Calderón, Gianina Cărbunariu, Anupama Chandrasekhar, Marius von Mayenburg, Juan Mayorga, Dalia Taha, and Natal’ya Vorozhbit.
