Clean Break: Playwrights Pathways

Clean Break: Playwrights Pathways Top / Details
Mon 04 Sep - Tue 05 Sep 2023

Playwrights Pathways has been a creative development opportunity supporting six Clean Break Members to further their playwriting craft, knowledge of theatre making processes and the theatre industry. Each writer pitched an idea and across the programme these ideas have been developed into the writer’s first full-length play script.

This event – that takes the form of rehearsed reading extracts – is an opportunity to share, celebrate and platform the necessary, imaginative and wildly different stories that have been brought to life through the individual voices and talents of our writers.

Since 1979 Clean Break has used theatre to keep the subject of women in prison on the cultural radar, helping to reveal the damage caused by the criminal justice system.

The writers are Fatima Dupres-Griffiths, Sorcha Fhionntain, Jill Power, Oriana White and Ann Whitely.

The sharing will be on Monday 4 September and Tuesday 5 September in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs and will be directed by Rachel Valentine Smith and Anna Herrmann.

Limited tickets will be available for the public.
