Summer Residency 2019: Focus Europe
The 2019 summer residency had a special focus on writers from Europe and in particular from the EU 27 countries. At a moment of huge change and uncertainty in Britain’s relationship with Europe, the residency looked to engage with a new generation of artists across the continent. And to make a statement about the Royal Court’s commitment to keeping deep international partnerships alive. The residency was a three week programme that involved writers spending time at the Royal Court, meeting British artists, attending workshops, seeing and discussing theatre and developing a new play during their time in London. It took place during June and July of this year. Applicants were selected from an open call.
