RUPERT GOOLD

Rupert Goold is Artistic Director of Headlong Theatre. Productions for Headlong include King Lear
(Liverpool Everyman/Young Vic), Six Characters in Search of an Author (Minerva Chichester/West End), The
Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Almeida Theatre), Rough Crossings (Lyric Hammersmith) and Faustus
(Hampstead/Tour). Previous to joining Headlong he was Artistic Director of the Royal and Derngate
Theatres, Northampton from 2002 – 2005 and was Associate Artist at Salisbury Playhouse from 1996-97.
Freelance work includes: Time and the Conways (National), Oliver!, No Man’s Land, The Glass Menagerie (West
End), Speaking Like Magpies, The Tempest (RSC), Scaramouche Jones with Pete Postlethwaite, Macbeth
(Chichester/West End/BAM/Broadway – for which he won the 2007 Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and
Olivier awards for Best Director). Opera work includes: Le Comte Ory for Garsington Opera and L’Opera
Seria, Gli Equivoci and Il Pomo D’Oro at Batignano. He will direct Turandot for ENO in autumn 2009.
